Rare 1912 WW1 Canadian 106th Light Infantry Sergeant tunic uniform
Rare all original Circa 1912 British made WW1 Canadian 106th Winnipeg Light infantry tunic and breeches uniform.
WLI tunic: it is a 1912 pattern British Infantry Other Ranks tunic. You can tell it is 1912 pattern because of the blue shoulder straps, prior to this they would’ve just been red. This would’ve then been used by the Canadian militia on purchase from Britain around this time and used for many years thereafter. The WLI itself was founded in 1912. The unit contributed a lot of men to the 10th Battalion, CEF during WW1, seeing lots of action. It should also be noted that the WLI also very briefly existed in 1885 for the Northwest Rebellion, disbanded again, and reformed in 1912. The blue Sergeant tank chevrons, though unusual, were used by this unit on these tunics and have been seen on other examples. The trousers are correct for this 1912 pattern tunic. The buttons are also correct, being British “general service” buttons that came with the tunic from Britain.
